George Takei, “Sulu” on Star Trek, Hiro’s father on “Heroes”, occational Howard Stern sidekick, and full time homosexual, has been immortalized as a heavenly body after a huge flying rock located between Mars and Jupiter was renamed “7307 Takei”.

The Asteroid was formerly named 1994 GT9. It was discovered in 1994 by two Japanese scientists. The renaming has been approved by officials at the International Astronomical Union’s Committee On Small Body Nomenclature. Which is about as official as these things get.
