Cosmetics Company Sues Teri Hatcher for 2 Million
Hydroderm cosmetics have sued Teri Hatcher for $2.8 million for allegedly breaching her contract.
The suit was filed against Hatcher in Los Angeles Superior Court. Court papers allege that in 2005, Hatcher made an exclusive deal with Hydroderm that barred her from using her name, voice, autograph, image or any likeness to, promote, endorse, market or advertise skin any care products manufactured or marketed by Hydroderm’s competitors.
However, the company claims in its lawsuit that the “Desperate Housewives” actress violated the contract by endorsing a lip-plumping product produced by City Cosmetics, which is a competitor of Hydroderm’s lip enhancer.
Hydroderm is asking $2.4 million for fees paid to Hatcher to be the company’s celebrity endorser, as well as an additional $406,952.00 the company is claiming for fees related to the contract.
A representative for Hatcher issued a statement, dismissing the allegations as totally false and completely without merit:
“Ms. Hatcher will respond swiftly and decisively by appropriate legal means to recover everything she is owed under her contract, as well as compensatory and punitive damages for Hydroderm’s outrageous accusations.”
