Anna-Nicole Smith’s mother, Virgie Arthur, is suing a Houston television station and CBS Studios for libel after she says they aired a damaging interview with her daughter.  Not stopping there, she’s also decided to sue the pants off of Howard K. Stern, for setting up the appearance on Entertainment Tonight in the first place. 

According to the Houston Chronicle, in the interview with Entertainment Tonight, Anna-Nicole Smith said her mother never protected her from physical and sexual abuse when she was a little girl. 

The interview, which was produced by CBS and aired on NBC affiliate KPRC Channel 2, was shown a week after Anna-Nicole’s death. 

Papers filed in court said the comments Anna-Nicole made during the interview have jeopardized Arthur’s chances of ever gaining custody and securing any visitation rights for her granddaughter, Dannielynn.  Arthur also accuses Howard K. Stern, KPRC Channel 2 and CBS of muddying her reputation, standing firm that she’s a caring and honest person who was a law-abiding police officer during her employment, as well as into her retirement.  The lawsuit also states that Stern kept Anna-Nicole away from her family for long periods and controlled who Anna-Nicole could and couldn’t see or associate with, as well as what public appearances Anna-Nicole would make.

Artheur also states that after she expressed concern over the safety of both Anna-Nicole and Dannielynn, Stern refused to allow Anna-Nicole any contact with Arthur and retaliated by arranging the Entertainment Tonight interview. 

KPRC attorneys said in court documents that the station should not have been included in the case since it aired a satellite feed and they had no involvement in the reporting, production or content of the program or any knowledge of the alleged defamatory statements.

Rita Cosby is being sued by Howard K. Stern for $60 Million dollars. Why? Because she states that he and Larry Birkhead are gay lovers in the new book that supposedly reveals the “untold story” behind the death of Anne Nicole Smith.

I haven’t yet taken a look at the book, but if Rita doesn’t have some clear evidence, this slander lawsuit may just put her in the poor house.

Last night, she was served papers in regards to that lawsuit, at a book party promoting “Blond Ambition”. Notable guests of the party include Anne’s mother.
